CALIFORNIA GROWN

This washed Geisha comes from Condor Ridge Ranch, the first commercial coffee farm in California. It was there, in 2002, that FRINJ's late co-founder and visionary farmer Jay Ruskey planted the seeds of what would later become the California coffee industry.

The farm has long demonstrated what was once thought impossible: that high latitude, under the right conditions, can rival high altitude in producing exceptional coffee. The farm sits at 34°N latitude, well outside the traditional coffee belt, at just 200 meters above sea level. These factors, combined with a distinct coastal microclimate and organic agricultural practices, are central to what shaped this coffee.

Geisha (or Gesha) is a rare and highly sought-after variety of Arabica coffee. Originally from Ethiopia, made famous in Panama, and now grown in California, this variety is prized for its complexity and delicate florals, recalling jasmine and orange blossom in the cup. This lot is a sister to the one sent to the 2026 Dubai Coffee Auction, one of the world's most exclusive international auctions for coffees of distinction.

The cherries were picked at peak ripeness and traditionally washed, undergoing a 26-hour cold fermentation before drying slowly over 14 days. The result is a coffee that shows what California terroir can do, with jasmine, ripe apricot, and a honeyed sweetness that lingers through the finish.
