To process a return or for quality concerns about undamaged products, please contact us at hello@frinjcoffee.com and we'll work with you to ensure your satisfaction.
Refunds are issued to the original form of payment after items are received and reviewed.
It depends on the coffee. Our farms do not produce a lot of coffee, so lots sell out quickly. We often feature different lots from the same farm in a year, but for some specific coffees, they are only available on an annual basis. We strive to bring back coffees and farms on a yearly basis, but we cannot always predict what will be available.
Product & Quality
All of our farms are in California, which is north of the Tropic of Cancer, the northern boundary of the traditional coffee growing belt. Altitude and latitude are related. The reason coffee is grown at high elevations in the tropics is to achieve milder diurnal temperature variations for extended cherry maturation. It's simply too hot at low tropical elevations for quality coffee production. Coastal southern California by contrast is at such a latitude that you can grow close to sea level and achieve similar temperature conditions. This “latitude effect” is one of the keys to what makes our coffee possible.
FRINJ Coffee can be brewed many different ways, but most people prefer using the pourover method with a V60 or Kalita Wave dripper. Our coffee also tastes delicious in a French Press, Aero Press, traditional coffee maker, and as espresso. One of the fun things about fine coffee is the ability to explore different brewing methods that fit your style and your palate.
We recommend resting our coffee for at least 1 week before opening the bag. Once you open the bag, we recommend you consume it within three weeks of opening. Keep the bag in a cool, dry, and dark place. We recommend Planetary Design’s Airscape canister as the ideal way to store our beans out of the bag.
FRINJ Coffee sources beans from both certified organic farms and conventional farms. We encourage all our farmers to pursue organic practices and utilize sustainable methods. Unfortunately, our mill is not certified organic because it processes both organic and conventional products, so none of our coffee is certified organic. To determine growing practices, refer to the description in the individual product page.
No. Fair Trade is a system designed to support commodity coffee farmers in developing countries. While Fair Trade certification doesn't apply to California-grown coffee, our partnerships with local farmers and premium pricing structure exceed Fair Trade standards, ensuring sustainable practices and fair compensation through direct relationships.
FRINJ coffee is grown in California except where noted otherwise.
FRINJ coffee is grown in California, a place where land is priced at a premium and workers are paid a fair wage. Our farms produce quality and not quantity. We produce some of the smallest and rarest coffee lots in the world. Our prices reflect the inherent cost of pioneering California coffee and our commitment to uncompromising quality.
No, but we do sell Laurina, a rare varietal which naturally offers about half the caffeine content of typical coffee. This coffee is especially sweet and delicate—caffeine is a bitter compound.
