If ever there was a “crushable” coffee, it’s this yeast washed Caturra from Southern Ridge Ranch in Santa Barbara. It's a comforting cup with notes of peach, apple, spice, caramel, and milk chocolate. Peach cobbler is the thing that immediately comes to mind. It’s dependable, delicious, and easy-going. In other words: It’s a perfect morning coffee.

Southern Ridge Ranch is located in the foothills above Santa Barbara at just 204 meters above sea level, which is low by international standards, but about average for California. Many coffee drinkers are surprised by the low elevation of our farms—the reason our coffee is grown at these low elevations is because our region relies on high latitude and coastal influence to create environmental conditions and day-to-night temperature swings ideal for coffee growing. Southern Ridge Ranch benefits from this effect and like all of our farms regularly has cherries that achieve a 10 month maturation period, yielding cherries of incredible complexity rivaling high-altitude farms in the tropics.

This particular lot was hand-picked at peak ripeness and sent to our mill in Ventura. It was then floated to remove defects, pulped, and cold fermented with an additional yeast-inoculation step for 72 hours before being washed and laid to dry on raised beds to a stable moisture below 11%.
