Hobson Family Farms, Pepper Tree Canyon GeishaGeisha - Washed

Hobson Family Farms is currently the largest coffee farm in California.  Pepper Tree Canyon is located in the foothills between Ventura and Santa Paula, in a region with a rich tradition of citrus and avocado farming. The land here is particularly fertile, and that is evident in the richness of the cup, which is a classic tangerine-forward expression of the Geisha varietal.

Geisha (or more properly “gesha”) traces its origin back to Ethiopia’s Gori Gesha Forest, where its seeds were first collected in the 1930s. However, it wasn’t until 2005 that Geisha gained global recognition when it broke price records at the prestigious Best of Panama competition and auction. Today it continues to be prized for the exotic cup that it provides—something that clearly shines through in this Californian example.
