Condor Ridge Ranch – Gaviota Coast ConservancyNatural - Goleta, CA

This exceptional Geisha is the result of a partnership between FRINJ and the Gaviota Coast Conservancy, an organization dedicated to protecting the rugged, 76-mile stretch of undeveloped coastline between Santa Barbara and Point Conception. Gaviota is home to many endangered species and also some of California’s most significant indigenous archeological sites.

With support from a conservancy grant, FRINJ CEO Jay Ruskey planted a section of Condor Ridge Ranch with Geisha trees to demonstrate how coastal land can be used to grow sustainable crops that can provide meaningful income for local farmers.

We are now pleased to present the first offering from this Gaviota Coast Conservancy parcel, and it’s a real stunner. To deepen this coffee’s complexity, we used a natural process with slightly extended fermentation: cherries were picked at peak ripeness, fermented whole for two days in open-air barrels, then slowly dried on raised beds before being finished in our climate-controlled drying room over the course of three weeks. The result is an exotic cup filled with the heady perfume of jasmine and the mellow sweetness of papaya.

As part of its ongoing efforts, the conservancy recently acquired the 3,272-acre Rancho Tajiguas, which is positioned to become a model for regenerative agriculture and sustainable land stewardship, aligning perfectly with initiatives like this one on Condor Ridge Ranch.
