Silent Springs – Tunnel-Grown Geisha – NaturalCalifornia Geisha
This elegant Geisha coffee was grown at Silent Springs, a farm nestled in the rugged backcountry of Moorpark, California. The farm is unique for growing coffee inside tunnels, a technique borrowed from Ventura County’s expert berry growers. These tunnels allow greater control over growing conditions and provide protection from coastal winds and occasional frosts.
This innovative approach has proven successful for California coffee production, delivering both high yield and exceptional quality.
The cherries were meticulously picked at peak ripeness and then fermented aerobically for two days. Drying took place outside on African-style beds and in a climate-controlled indoor drying room for up to 20 days. The result is a coffee that reflects the care and innovation behind its production—unique in its approach and beautifully balanced in flavor. We’re excited to share it with you.
Geisha’s origins trace back to Ethiopia’s Gori Gesha Forest, where its seeds were first collected in the 1930s. However, it wasn’t until 2005 that Geisha gained global recognition, breaking price records at the prestigious Best of Panama competition and auction. Unlike traditional coffee varieties, Geisha is celebrated for its vibrant, exotic cup profile, offering a unique sensory experience that has redefined specialty coffee in the years since.
